About the Role

The Marketing Content Specialist plays a critically important role in Visit Seattle’s Marketing department. A successful candidate for this role is a collaborator, supporter, communicator, organizer, learner, and part of an innovative team of creatives and content experts. This role contributes to Visit Seattle’s success by helping the marketing team deliver world-class campaigns that promote Seattle as a global destination.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the creative concepting, development, and execution (in collaboration with our publishing partner agency) of Visit Seattle’s bi-annually printed Official Visitors’ Guide (OVG) and walking maps. Leverage these assets to build out digital content, widening our distribution and reach.
  • Support marketing collateral and campaign content with copywriting, proofreading, design review, and creative asset sourcing, ensuring an outstanding experience for our visitors, clients, and local stakeholders.
  • Support ongoing updates of the marketing content style guide.
  • Execute the department’s overall content strategy, including supporting SEO/AEO/GEO efforts and AI features, and making content updates to the site.
  • Manage imports and listings for our comprehensive online Calendar of Events; extend this content further through printed OVGs, Seattle Localist newsletters, and the Visit Seattle website.
  • Lead the editorial development and production of marketing e-mails, including quarterly meeting planner communications, notifications for key events including Seattle Museum Month and the Refract glass art festival, and Seattle Localist newsletter.
  • Review and manage the company’s email program to optimize open rates and overall engagement.
  • Manage the inventory of creative assets, including photos and videos, to provide streamlined image support for the organization.
  • Assist in daily management and maintenance of web, email, print, and other miscellaneous items.
  • Stay up to date on social media, marketing, and advertising trends and best practices to ensure the marketing department stays inspired.
  • Conduct competitive analysis of other destination marketing organizations and travel sites.
  • Contribute to a positive, productive, safe, respectful, professional work environment and culture.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of four years of experience in marketing, with a focus on content and campaign development. Relevant related experience may also be considered.
  • Knowledge of the travel/hospitality industry preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, as well as HTML.
  • Familiarity with content management systems, email and communication clients, and collaboration and workflow platforms (WordPress, MailChimp, Monday.com, etc.).
  • Ability to collaborate with diverse colleagues, multiple projects, and priorities at the same time with poise and efficiency.
  • Ideally a background or deep interest in content strategy and content strategy tools and tactics; familiarity with user experience best practices and web accessibility.
  • Familiarity with user-generated content (UGC) and interest or experience with tools for content development and audience engagement, including AI tools.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze information, identify opportunities, and develop creative solutions.
  • Able to work efficiently and accurately with minimal supervision.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative, showing consistent follow-through, attention to detail, and reliability.
  • Strong service approach with both internal and external customers.
  • Strong writing and proofing skills.
  • Consistently positive attitude and professional demeanor.

Pay

Pay range: $30 - $35 per hour with an annual incentive up to 5%. Compensation decisions are based on experience and scope of responsibility.
