Marketing Content Specialist
About the role
The marketing content specialist at the ASU Outreach Hub is responsible for creating persuasive and engaging content for various communication channels. This role requires a deep understanding of audience segmentation, marketing research, and project requirements.
Responsibilities
- Takes initiative in identifying tone and voice of relative stakeholders to write clear, persuasive, original content that focuses on the audience, tells a compelling story, creates urgency and drives action
- Assists with philanthropic and fundraising writing needs
- Conducts thorough research to fact-check content and ensure accuracy
- Applies a deep understanding of audience segmentation, marketing research, and audience and project requirements as defined by creative briefs and project discussions to develop and review copy that engages ASU and ASUEP’s constituents
- Utilizes best practices in SEO and writing for the web to improve performance as it relates to search performance and page engagement
- Utilizes best practices in email content development to improve open and click-through rates
- Creates and updates training and instructional materials for the marketing and communications community, including such pieces as online brand guides, printed brand books, email brand updates and presentations
- Works in close alignment with various Outreach Hub teams, including the design and video team, project management, alumni engagement, performance marketing, paid media and web and digital teams
- Actively balances a variety of projects, prioritizes workload based on deadlines and routinely reports progress on projects through project management tools and processes; proactively communicates to supervisor well in advance when deadlines are in jeopardy
- Participates in internal and external workgroups and committees to advance projects and stay informed about emerging best practices
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Ability to write targeted, persuasive communications and marketing materials for a variety of audiences
- Demonstrated knowledge of AP style and applying brand standards
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment handling multiple projects and meeting deadlines
- Problem solving, making decisions and working both independently and as part of a team, with minimal supervision, in a highly collaborative environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Creative and critical thinking skills; and high attention to detail
- Team-oriented strategist able to effectively manage complex situations involving numerous and sometimes competing constituencies
- Proficient in MS Office suite, Google Docs and project management systems
- Skilled in exercising a high degree of judgment and diplomacy
- Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and responsibility regarding information related to ASU Enterprise Partners, its subsidiaries and university business and confidential prospect information
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, communications, marketing or a related field
- Four (4) years or more of content marketing, marketing communications, marketing project management or related experience
- Five (5) years of content marketing, marketing communications, marketing project management or related experience preferred
Skills

Pay
Salary range: $60,000 - $80,000 annually
Schedule
Hybrid work schedule: 2 days remote, 1 day in office
