About the role
The Marketing and Communications Specialist provides communications support to help raise the organization’s profile through effective internal and external messages that deliver a consistent message and brand voice across platforms.
Responsibilities
- Assist in updating existing marketing material or drafting new copy for collateral.
- Draft, edit, and support other departments in updating member and customer correspondence letters.
- Draft and send member communications via email.
- Prepare and distribute agent emails (approximately 100 per year), collaborating with the Sales team to draft messages and route for review and approval.
- Maintain up-to-date agent email lists.
- Prepare quarterly sales newsletters.
- Coordinate drafting of the quarterly employee newsletter, gathering information from other departments, drafting content, and routing for reviews and approval.
- Work with the VP and other team members to write bimonthly Employee Updates with news and announcements.
- Update the intranet regularly with current, employee-relevant information as requested.
- Collaborate with the graphic designer to create online banners, posters, and other materials.
- Contribute to social media efforts by updating, maintaining, and engaging key audiences across channels.
- Work with vendors to ensure consistent messaging and voice across social media platforms.
- Monitor social media accounts for posts and messages from members, involving other departments as needed.
- Address online issues and update website notices or banners as requested.
- Work with IT and other team members to resolve technical issues.
- Maintain a quarterly report on website metrics and social media activity.
- Maintain an up-to-date communications calendar and share it with the team and other departments as needed.
- Create and maintain a monthly communications dashboard, including communications, website, and social media metrics.
- Complete purchase orders, packaging requests, and coordinate with mailroom services for shipments.
- Perform other communications and marketing tasks as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in a fast-paced corporate environment.
- Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud strongly preferred.
- Life insurance or financial services industry experience a plus.
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
Skills
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong internet research skills and proficiency in MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Ability to multitask, work well under pressure, reprioritize quickly, and demonstrate good judgment.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment and execute independently.
