Position: Marketing & Communications Intern Reports to: Chief Executive Officer Position Type: Part-time, hybrid, up to 20 hours per week Duration: Approximately 10 months Location: Salt Lake City, Utah Application Closing Date: 8/31/2026 Community Foundation of Utah’s Mission: We are Utah’s Partner in Philanthropy, pioneering innovation and collaboration to invest in our community today for a brighter tomorrow. Since 2008, the Community Foundation of Utah (CFU) has deployed over $600 million in grants to nonprofit organizations, while spearheading a variety of community initiatives to address our state’s most pressing challenges. Summary: The Marketing & Communications Intern plays a vital role in advancing CFU's mission by helping build brand awareness and supporting the development of marketing and communications content. This is a hands-on, learning-focused role designed for a student or early-career professional who wants real experience in nonprofit marketing, storytelling, and philanthropy. You will work alongside our team and receive mentorship and regular feedback. Position Benefits A $25,000 stipend for the ten-month, part-time (20 hours per week) internshipLearn how a community foundation builds and communicates its brand across audiencesGain practical experience with social media, email marketing, content creation, and design toolsDevelop professional communication and marketing skills by creating content for newsletters, social media, websites, press releases, and other outreach materialsUnderstand the role of philanthropy and community foundations in addressing community needs through grantmaking, scholarships, donor services, and community leadership initiativesExplore careers in nonprofit management, philanthropy, and community development through direct exposure to the operations and partnerships of a community foundationBuild your professional network by engaging with leaders across local government, business, philanthropy, and community development Roles & Responsibilities Content Creation: Create and schedule content for social media, newsletters, webpages, and the annual report to promote CFU’s programs, grants, and community impact, and help increase CFU's visibilityStrategy Support: Support the development and execution of marketing plans and campaigns aligned with organizational goalsAnalytics & Reporting: Help track marketing metrics and summarize campaign performance to inform future outreach, and assist with developing surveys or tools to gather feedback from community stakeholdersMarketing Materials & Brand: Assist with the production of marketing materials (newsletters, website updates, graphic design) and help maintain brand consistency across program and donor collateralImpact Storytelling: Help gather, organize, and shape impact stories and data that demonstrate CFU's programmatic effectiveness, including conducting interviews with donors, grantees, and community members to highlight the Foundation's work Administrative Support: Provide general support to the team as needed, such as organizing and digitizing Foundation documents and performing data entry and database management to keep contact and program information up to date Preferred Experience Strong writing and storytelling abilityProficiency with basic digital tools (Microsoft Suite) and willingness to learn platforms for social media management, email marketing (MailChimp), content management system (Joomla), and design software (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite)Interest in learning to use AI tools thoughtfullyStrong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detailComfort working with data and turning research or numbers into clear, readable contentStrong interpersonal and communication skillsA collaborative, adaptable mindset and openness to giving and receiving feedback Who You Are A strong communicator with a service-oriented, collaborative approachAbility to juggle multiple and disparate priorities efficiently and smoothlyWilling and able to adapt, change, or streamline processes based on shifting priorities, changing circumstances, and/or resources and capacityUnderstanding of the value and impact of continuous learning and iterationTransparent communicator open to both give and receive constructive feedback How to Apply: Submit your resume to info@utahcf.org , along with a short message about how you heard about the position and how your own skills, experience, and qualifications would enhance the role and benefit CFU’s mission.
