About the role

The Marketing Cloud & Data Cloud Specialist is a technical platform owner responsible for the administration, configuration, and optimization of Salesforce Marketing Cloud and Salesforce Data Cloud at AACR. This role sits within the Enterprise Platform Services & Data Management team and operates at the intersection of IT and Marketing.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing Cloud Administration & Operations:
    • Serve as the primary platform administrator for Salesforce Marketing Cloud, including user/contact management, business unit configuration, security settings, and release management
    • Configure and maintain Email Studio, Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Content Builder, Contact Builder, and Mobile Studio
    • Track email performance metrics and A/B testing outcomes, and ensure campaign and automation data flows into Data Cloud for downstream reporting in Power BI
    • Build and manage data extensions, subscriber models, and send classifications, including routine list hygiene and subscriber data-quality maintenance
    • Own platform health, deliverability metrics, and compliance with GDPR/CAN-SPAM and email best practices
    • Troubleshoot and resolve platform issues, integration failures, and campaign execution errors
    • Build and maintain CloudPages and Code Resources supporting subscription management, preference centers, re-opt-in flows, and data-capture forms
  • Data Cloud Administration & Activation:
    • Administer Salesforce Data Cloud, including data stream configuration, identity resolution rules, and unified profile management
    • Build and maintain audience segments for use in Marketing Cloud journeys and other activation channels
    • Define and maintain calculated insights, data model extensions, and activation targets
    • Partner with the data management team to ensure clean, governed data flows between Salesforce NPC, Snowflake, and Data Cloud
    • Lead efforts to utilize Salesforce Agentforce to refine and automate segment builds
  • Integration & Platform Connectivity:
    • Coordinate with the MuleSoft integration layer on data flows into and out of Marketing Cloud
    • Ensure data integrity and field-level mapping accuracy across integrated systems
    • Participate in platform change management and regression testing for Salesforce releases
  • Stakeholder Partnership:
    • Serve as the primary technical point of contact for Marketing and Creative services teams requesting platform support
    • Translate campaign and engagement requirements into platform configurations and journey designs
    • Partner with other AACR departments to understand their email objectives and proactively identify underlying data needs for email campaigns
    • Collaborate with the Marketing team on the email send calendar, providing platform data on sends, engagement, and frequency to help manage audience overlap and fatigue
    • Provide platform training, documentation, and guidance to marketing power users
    • Participate in backlog grooming with the NPC team to prioritize platform requests
    • Leverage AI capabilities across the platform stack, including Agentforce, Einstein features and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate segment building, campaign optimization, and day-to-day platform work

Requirements

  • 3+ years of hands-on Salesforce Marketing Cloud administration and configuration experience
  • Demonstrated experience with Journey Builder, Automation Studio, Email Studio, and Contact Builder
  • Working knowledge of data extensions, AMPscript, and SQL for audience queries
  • Experience integrating Marketing Cloud with Salesforce CRM (NPSP, NPC, or Sales/Service Cloud)
  • Strong data literacy, comfortable working with structured data, segmentation logic, and campaign analytics
  • Strong cross-functional communication; able to work between IT and non-technical marketing stakeholders without losing technical rigor
  • Self-directed and able to manage a personal backlog with minimal supervision
  • Detail-oriented with a low tolerance for data quality issues
  • Comfortable with ambiguity in a lean team environment

Preferred Experience

  • Experience with Salesforce Data Cloud, including data streams, identity resolution rules, calculated insights, and segment activation; Data Cloud Consultant certification or accreditation preferred, or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Familiarity with Snowflake or other cloud data warehouse concepts
  • Experience in a nonprofit, membership association, or higher education environment
  • Experience with Salesforce Marketing Cloud Email Specialist certification (or ability to obtain within 6 months)
  • Awareness of Salesforce’s Marketing Cloud Next roadmap and the direction of Marketing Cloud and Data Cloud convergence toward the Agentforce Marketing platform
