About the role

The Marketing and Events Specialist plays a key role in KAT’s Marketing Department by overseeing marketing initiatives and community engagement efforts. This position develops and manages content across multiple channels, represents KAT at community events, and supports operational functions. This role also oversees passenger education programs, newsletters, and performance reporting that advance KAT’s marketing and public engagement goals.

Responsibilities

  • Marketing and Communications (40%)
    • Develops and schedules creative content across platforms to increase engagement, awareness, and educate on KAT’s services in coordination with the Marketing and Communications Manager
    • Designs and/or films any necessary graphics and/or footage for social media campaigns
    • Maintains brand consistency across all communications and deliverables
    • Publishes timely updates of any service disruptions or detours across all platforms
    • Promptly responds to and tracks comments and messages while routing complaints to appropriate departments
  • Events and Community Outreach (40%)
    • Oversees the planning, organization, and execution of internal and external events
    • Represents KAT at community events (resource fairs, Kid A’Riffic Fun in the Park, Farmers Markets, etc.) by providing information on KAT services and interacting with community members
    • Responsible for guiding community engagement efforts by researching event and partnership opportunities
    • Leads the passenger travel training program including curriculum, outreach, and performance evaluation
    • Designs and delivers educational sessions at KAT facilities and third-party locations, including occasional work outside business hours
  • Administrative and Operational Support (20%)
    • Creates and distributes bi-weekly and monthly newsletters
    • Designs and distributes departmental flyers as needed
    • Generates reports to measure performance of campaigns and content
    • Creates presentations and communication materials related to bi-monthly safety and information meetings and public engagement activities
    • Assists with general administrative tasks related to marketing, communications, and events
    • Performs other duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational needs

Requirements

  • Education and Experience
    • An associate’s degree and one (1) to three (3) years of directly related experience
    • Military experience may be accepted in lieu of equivalent experience or education

Qualifications

  • Preferred Education and Experience
    • A bachelor’s degree in a related field
    • One (1) to three (3) years of relevant experience
    • Experience in the transportation industry
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Canva, and Meta Business Suite
    • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to engage effectively in internal and external settings
    • Understanding of branding principles and the ability to maintain a consistent message across multiple communication channels
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
    • Ability to interpret and organize data to formulate reports
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills when engaging with team members, passengers, and community members
    • Share knowledge of KAT services in an engaging and accessible format

Physical demands

  • The employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and reach with hands; use hands to feel objects, tools, or controls
  • The employee is required to sit, talk, and hear
  • The employee may experience repetitive motion of wrists, hands, and/or fingers
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus

Work environment

  • Work is performed in a standard office environment with a moderate work pace
  • Duties are performed at a computer workstation for extended periods and at various external community locations for events
  • The role involves frequent interaction with employees, passengers, and community members
  • Noise level is typically quiet

Pay

$50,000-$53,000

Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm
