Marketing Analyst
An early-stage, high-growth AI company is hiring a Marketing Analyst to help build the marketing measurement engine from the ground up. This role is analytical first and marketer second, focusing on systems, reporting, and experimentation to guide the growth team's understanding of what works, what doesn’t, and what remains inconclusive. The company targets large enterprise buyers with long sales cycles, where trust, precision, and clear data are prioritized over high-volume growth tactics.
Location: San Francisco, CA
Work Type: Full-time, in-person, 5 days/week
Experience: 0–3 years
About the Role
This is ideal for someone excited by rigorous measurement, clean experimentation, honest reporting, and building structure in an ambiguous startup environment. You’ll work in a high-ownership, intense startup pace in San Francisco.
Responsibilities
- Own and build marketing measurement infrastructure across UTMs, CRM source tagging, pipeline attribution, and channel reporting.
- Design clean experiments across marketing channels with clear hypotheses, controlled setups, and honest readouts.
- Analyze campaign, funnel, and events data to surface insights that guide budget allocation and channel prioritization.
- Report on marketing performance with intellectual honesty, including what is working, what is not, and what the data cannot yet prove.
- Define and standardize funnel metrics to align marketing, sales, and leadership around consistent definitions.
- Identify gaps in measurement before the team invests further in channels that cannot be properly evaluated.
- Support channel execution as needed, such as LinkedIn campaign setup, reporting workflows, and operational deployment.
- Help build a marketing function that relies on evidence rather than assumptions, anecdotes, or unclear data.
Requirements
- 0–3 years of experience in an analytical role, prioritizing rigor and clarity over specific background.
- Strong understanding of measurement infrastructure, including UTMs, CRM tracking, attribution, source tagging, and funnel reporting.
- Comfortable with marketing analytics tools, CRM platforms, and performance reporting systems.
- Strong grasp of experimentation design, including sample size, control conditions, and clear hypotheses.
- Data-driven mindset: let conclusions emerge from data rather than shaping data to fit a narrative.
- Intellectually honest, comfortable reporting null, ambiguous, or negative results without overstating confidence.
- Clear written and verbal communicator who explains data insights, limitations, and next steps to non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable making directional recommendations with thin data while transparently stating confidence levels.
- Excited to work in-person in San Francisco 5 days a week in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Strong ownership mindset: proactively identify and fix broken systems, unclear metrics, or messy reporting.
Nice to Have
- Experience in insurance, finance, fintech, or another complex B2B industry.
- Experience with CRM platforms, marketing automation tools, or pipeline reporting.
