About the role
The Market Sector Leader is responsible for cultivating business opportunities in net new business annually within a given market by developing and maintaining partnerships and managing client relations. This role focuses on achieving specific targets and KPIs.
Responsibilities
- Contract new work to meet market sector goals established annually by securing new clients and deepening relationships with existing clients.
- Establish and implement a business development plan with key stakeholders in the market and geography, and manage and adhere to the established budget.
- Stay up to date on market sector trends and developments in partnership with business development and marketing resources to support and deepen the company’s reputation in the market.
- Facilitate the development of contacts with decision-makers in organizations, contractors, and corporate entities within the market, both personally and through team members.
- Build strong networks with design professionals specialized in the industry and establish circles of influence to identify prospective opportunities and solicit support for business development.
- Maintain a pipeline of advanced-stage opportunities and achieve established KPIs.
- Provide vision and business development intelligence to the marketing team for specific projects within the market sector; guide team partnerships, input, and key messaging for proposal preparation.
- Develop promotional campaign programs tailored to clients’ needs, interests, and budgets.
- Serve as the main point of contact for specific clients, ensuring their satisfaction and addressing any concerns or issues promptly.
- May serve as a project manager or have technical involvement with one or more projects within the market.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering.
- 10+ years’ experience in design and management of projects, including 3-5 years in leadership and/or business development.
Qualifications
- Professional Registration – PE, Architect, or NCIDQ.
- Strong entrepreneurial spirit with a desire to grow the market sector and position the company as a premier firm in design and execution.
- Understanding of the market sector and corresponding client needs/expectations; ability to identify trends, drive solutions, and develop clients’ ideas into buildable solutions.
- Demonstrated skills in business development, negotiation of critical issues, and exceptional client management and customer service orientation.
- Strong writing and presentation skills.
- Working knowledge of fee proposals, negotiations, various delivery and contracting processes, and contract/subcontract administration.
- Proven ability to drive results through successful project planning, coordination, scheduling, and budgeting.
- Strong leadership, mentoring, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent time management and organization skills, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent opportunities/projects at various stages.
- Active leader and member of varied professional and community organizations.
