About the role

DTN is seeking a Market Reporter to play a key role in producing timely, accurate, and insightful content that fuels decisions across the refined fuels industry. As part of the DTN Energy editorial team, you’ll be a primary contributor to Marketwire, our daily publication providing critical pricing and market intelligence for nearly 90 fuel types. Your work will directly inform and empower suppliers, retailers, and traders navigating today’s complex energy landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver daily price assessments on a wide variety of refined fuel products, feeding into a real-time ticker used by industry professionals.
  • Write concise, impactful news summaries covering major events within the refined fuels market and global developments affecting energy trends.
  • Provide consistent coverage of NYMEX oil futures, ensuring DTN’s customers stay informed on market-moving developments.
  • Build and maintain industry relationships with key contacts at the supplier and retailer level to enrich reporting and insights.
  • Represent DTN at select industry events, expanding both your expertise and the brand’s market presence.

Requirements

  • At least 1 year of experience in basis price assessments.
  • 3–5 years of experience reporting on energy markets, with a strong understanding of industry dynamics.
  • A solid contact base in refined fuels markets—particularly in the Gulf Coast or New York Harbor regions.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and communication skills, with a sharp eye for accuracy and clarity.
  • A collaborative mindset with the flexibility to adapt and support a variety of editorial assignments.

Pay

The targeted hiring base pay range for this position is between $60,000 and $80,000 (OTE: $70,000–86,000). DTN is a pay-for-performance organization, meaning there is opportunity to advance your compensation with performance over time. The actual base pay offered will depend on factors including prior work experience, training/education, transferable skills, business needs, internal equity, and applicable laws. This role may also be eligible for market-competitive variable pay and benefits.
