About the role

The Market Manager plays a critical role in expanding the bank’s customer base by strategically targeting and acquiring new business customers. This position requires a proactive approach in identifying potential business opportunities and the ability to deliver tailored banking solutions that meet the diverse needs of prospects and customers. The Market Manager will take a leadership role in the business community, working closely with local businesses to provide financial products and services that support their growth and success. This role serves as the face of the bank in the local market, building strong referral networks and ensuring disciplined execution of sales strategies.

This is an on-site position with 60-70% travel required.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with local Branch Managers to ensure alignment on sales priorities and execution.
  • Collaborate with Retail Branches, Commercial Banking, and Treasury Management sales to ensure seamless onboarding of new customers and exceptional service delivery.
  • Conduct market research to identify potential clients and sectors for expansion of the customer base.
  • Proactively identify and retain “at-risk” customers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with local businesses through networking, community engagement, and strategic partnerships.
  • Participate in branch events/sponsorships and engage with groups and organizations within the community.
  • Assess the financial needs of prospective and existing customers and recommend banking solutions that align with their business objectives.
  • Use advertising leads, internal customer lead lists, personal contacts, referrals, and the branch customer base to identify sales opportunities and provide an outstanding customer experience.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory changes to effectively position banking services.
  • Maintain a complete understanding of and competency with products, services, and the Bank’s business-customer acquisition strategy.
  • Monitor personal weekly/monthly sales efforts, ensuring sales targets and results are achieved.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or related field preferred. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in Banking, Sales, or Business Development with a proven track record of acquiring business customers.
  • Strong outbound business development mindset, with a primary focus on new relationship acquisition.
  • Maintain an active and accurate deposit and credit pipeline, providing regular forecasts and activity reporting to management.
  • Proactively prospect for new credit opportunities up to $250K through outbound calling, referrals, and community networking activities.
  • Strong understanding of business banking products and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence decision-makers.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong analytical mindset and the ability to solve complex problems.
  • Target-driven and highly motivated with a proven ability to work independently, set priorities, and manage time to maximize market results.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Pay

$80,000 - $110,000 annually. Eligible for Retail Incentive Plan AIP Bonus up to 10%. Final compensation package will be determined by work experience, education, and/or skill level of the applicant along with internal equity and alignment with geographic market data.
