About the Role
This role will be located at The Madison Club in La Quinta, California. The Market Cook is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality menu items in a fast-paced kitchen environment while maintaining food safety, quality, and operational standards. This role ensures stations are fully stocked and prepared for service, executes orders accurately and efficiently, supports inventory management, and assists in training kitchen staff. The Madison Club is open during the winter and spring season, and this role is for a full-time, seasonal need from October to June.
Responsibilities
- Set up and stock stations before service with ingredients, tools, and supplies
- Prepare food by cutting, chopping, mixing, and making sauces or dressings
- Cook menu items (including preparing and baking pizzas) to recipe specifications, portion sizes, and presentation standards
- Plate to-go dishes according to the head chef’s guidance
- Execute orders from the ticket rail or kitchen display system (KDS) accurately and on time
- Maintain cleanliness of the station, utensils, and work areas; comply with food safety and sanitation regulations
- Monitor quality of ingredients and finished products; report shortages or issues
- Collaborate with expeditors, lead cooks, and other station staff to ensure timely service
Requirements
- Previous experience as a line cook, pizza cook, prep cook, or similar culinary position preferred
- Knowledge of pizza preparation, baking techniques, and food preparation methods
- Food Handlers Certification required within 7 days of hire
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and ServSafe practices
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards
- Ability to follow recipes, procedures, and verbal instructions accurately

- Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Long hours may be required due to business demands
- Ability to work independently or in a team environment
- Ability to stay calm and focused during busy periods
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, including working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds

Pay
The Company’s good faith estimate of the hourly rate it expects to pay for this role is $23 - $25 and is based on applicable and specialized experience and location.
Schedule
Full-time, seasonal role from October to June.
