About the role
The Market & Business Intelligence Analyst supports the firm’s strategic initiatives by conducting extensive research on current and potential clients. This role analyzes search results, compiles reports, and evaluates the firm’s clients, prospects, key industries, competitors, and new markets.
Location
This hybrid position is available in our Reston, Atlanta, Austin, Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Miami, Minneapolis, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Raleigh, San Diego, Seattle, Short Hills, Washington DC, or Wilmington office.
Responsibilities
- Identifies market trends, industry developments, client movements, and other relevant client news to provide information for the firm’s marketing and business development department, attorneys, firm leadership, and other stakeholders.
- Conducts extensive research on current and potential clients using web sources and internal data to assist in identifying potential areas of cross-selling and targeting opportunities in providing legal services.
- Analyzes search results, compiles reports, and provides written executive summaries.
- Provides information critical to the firm’s business development and competitive advantage initiatives.
- Analyzes the firm’s clients, prospects, key industries serviced, and competitors to identify new markets.
- Supports client pitches and provides needed information for responding to RFPs.
- Assists management with developing a highly functioning global competitive intelligence research and business analysis group by contributing ideas, suggestions, and using information and tools not typically found in a law firm.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills
- Strong analytical skills to gather, analyze, and interpret a variety of data.
- Knowledge of the legal market and competitors is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with staff of all levels.
- Experience using AI to conduct research.
- Fluent in data gathering and analysis, including organizing and manipulating data in Excel spreadsheets using basic and advanced functions.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to extract insights and produce recommendations from market and client research.
- Competency in data management and visualization tools such as Power BI and Alteryx is a plus.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Market Research, Business Analytics, Business, Library Services, or a related field.
- Master’s Degree in MBA, MS, MLIS, or a related master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in marketing research or knowledge services.

Physical Demands
Sedentary work: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time.
Work Environment
This position offers a hybrid work arrangement, combining remote and in-office work. The requirement for in-office attendance will be determined in coordination with the hiring manager or supervisor and may be modified at the firm’s discretion.
Pay
The expected hiring range for this position is $80,348 - $117,111 per year, depending on the candidate’s geographic market location. Compensation will also be dependent on the candidate’s experience, skills, educational and professional background, and overall qualifications.
