Maritime Project Manager

About the role

Responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating activities related to specific projects for the Steamship Authority. Develops budget specifications, plans, contracts, proposals, and purchase orders for assigned projects. Reviews and approves plans and specifications prepared by consultants. Administers and oversees contracts from initial RFP development through completion, ensuring compliance with applicable Massachusetts building codes, Handicapped Access Regulations, and Department of Environmental Quality Engineering Rules and Regulations.

Responsibilities

• Develop bid documents, negotiate, supervise, and coordinate the performance and scheduling of contractors.
• Coordinate with contractors all work to be conducted by in-house resources and outside contractors.
• Perform periodic inspections of terminals, buildings, docks, and parking facilities pertaining to special projects.
• Investigate, determine the cause of, and recommend corrective actions for docks and parking facilities.
• Establish and maintain a long-term planning schedule for special projects at terminals, buildings, docks, and parking facilities.
• Provide liaison with insurance underwriters on the review and inspection of special projects.
• Assist with the Authority's environmental regulatory compliance to ensure operations and maintenance activities comply with Federal and Massachusetts rules and regulations.
• Maintain all applicable records for regulatory review at all times.
• Act as an ambassador and role model for the SQMS with engaging communication and influencing skills to work with all levels of the business.
• Keep the Director of Engineering & Maintenance informed of the status of all ongoing projects.
• Attend weekly department meetings as directed.
• Respond to emergency situations related to special projects outside of normal work hours.
• Fulfill duties and responsibilities delegated by the General Manager and Director of Engineering & Maintenance.
• Provide functional direction to subordinates regarding SQMS disciplines.
• Perform other duties as required by supervisor.

Requirements

• B.S. in Marine, Civil, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering.
• 5 to 10 years of work experience.
• Professional Engineering License and/or Project Management Certification is required.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $116,700 to $150,550.
