Marine Technician

About the role

We are seeking new team members for our “Marine Technician” in Lake Hopatcong. Your role will work in conjunction with our existing Marine Technicians and Service Department, as well as the entire marine effort to ensure boaters' have a safe and enjoyable time on the water.

Responsibilities

  • Skilled mechanical ability to utilize tools to remove and replace parts and perform mid-level maintenance and repairs as directed and with level of independence.
  • Diagnosing and changing mechanical parts, carbureted and fuel injected systems, 12v electrical systems, ignition systems, and drive train.
  • Basic maintenance including oil changes, fluids exchanges, etc.
  • Refurbishing projects on fiberglass and aluminum boats.
  • Moving, hauling, launching, blocking, trailering of boats.
  • Leading and supervising subordinate team members in service operations from time to time.
  • Cleaning awareness and precaution to keep boats clean and maintained.
  • Able to strictly adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Follow strategies, policies and procedures as directed.
  • Complete assigned work: always seeking to understand expectations of work and follow through.
  • Complete and submit work recorders, notes, changes in work and report to technician and managers.
  • Learn new techniques, procedures, and how to proactively identify problems.
  • Ensure work area, tools and equipment are maintained and in good repair and in proper condition after all work.
  • Use and maintain company vehicles and equipment to the highest standard.

Requirements

  • Two-years professional technician experience; showing experience working independent of mentor.
  • Marine/boat service experience preferred.
  • Thorough mechanical and technical skills and awareness.
  • Valid clean automobile driver’s license.
  • NJ Boating certificate and boating experience.
  • Good health and great physical mobility.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background/drug screen.
  • Work indoors and out in various weather conditions.
  • Mon-Fri schedule approximately 8:30a-5:30p with some overtime and occasional Saturday.

Skills

  • Mechanical: understanding and skilled use of common tools. Awareness and ability to learn use of specialized tools. Deep knowledge of two and four stroke combustion principles and keen mechanical awareness.
  • Very good communication skills: active listener, gives full attention to and understand others and communicate for self in verbal or written word. Always asking questions when appropriate and seeking to understand others.
  • Experienced investigative skills, ability to seek understanding, and understand benefits of potential actions and choose most appropriate solution.
  • Friendly, courteous, curious for providing personal and customer service.
  • Teamwork; develop constructive, supportive, and cooperative relationships with teammates in all departments.
  • Documenting and recording information; regularly and accurately record notes and maintain information about projects and work required or completed.

Compensation

Your starting compensation varies based on your skills, ability, and experience; the starting rate ranges from $22-$30 per hour or equivalently $46,000-$63,000 per year. Salaried or hourly compensation available. Overtime and incentives are available depending on package. Advancement and increases are available and are encouraged!

Schedule

Mon-Fri schedule approximately 8:30a-5:30p with some overtime and occasional Saturday.
