About the role
Moffatt & Nichol specializes in large complex waterfront infrastructure projects and is recognized as one of the worldwide leaders in this field. We are actively seeking a Marine/Waterfront Structural Engineer with 10 to 15+ years of experience to join our Seattle, Federal Way, or Vancouver, WA offices.
Responsibilities
- Leads and manages projects, including cost estimates, budgets, scheduling and documentation preparation, support and evaluation
- Works with internal and external clients to develop and drive project deliverables
- Recommends contracting strategies
- Provides construction support
- Solves design problems that may include performing field investigation or inspection
- Designs detailed plans and structural analysis
- Performs finite element static and dynamic structural modeling of structures
- Prepares design concepts, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates
- Calculates quantity estimates
- Covers plan details with drafting technicians
- Prepares inspection reports as needed
- Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
- Oversees work of CAD designers, technicians and other engineer’s work
- Mentors and develops staff
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; required
- Master’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; required
- PE registration; required
- SE registration or ability to obtain SE; preferred
- 10 to 15+ years of related waterfront structural experience in engineering design and project management; required
- Proven ability to implement and manage both small and large scale projects
- Proven success in leading people and managing resources
- Strong communication (verbal, written and presentation) skills
- Experience in developing and maintaining client relationships
- Willingness and ability to travel for projects
- Possession of or eligibility to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC)
- Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port & Navigation Engineers (ACOPNE) certification in the Port Engineering category is preferred
