Responsibilities

  • Serve as Project Engineer, Package Coordinator, or Manager on a variety of engagements, overseeing technical teams, workstreams, deliverables, budgets, client interactions, and issue resolution within Hatch’s project governance framework.
  • Apply sound engineering principles to deliver efficient and cost-effective solutions in complex, multivariable, and multidisciplinary environments.
  • Conduct marine structural engineering and design efforts in alignment with established standards, quality objectives, and client needs.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret engineering, planning, and operational data to support project objectives.
  • Prepare and review drawings, RFIs, permit applications, technical specifications, basis of design reports, structural analysis models, reports, technical memoranda, presentations, schedules, maps, figures, and diagrams.
  • Perform site visits, structural inspections, condition assessments, and construction support activities as required.
  • Lead and contribute to proposals, proposal interview materials, and other business development materials.
  • Build client relationships, promote Hatch’s services, and identify new business opportunities.
  • Support staff development, management, and recruitment activities including active mentorship and development of graduates in technical fields of port and marine competencies.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in structural or civil engineering; master’s degree preferred in the field of ports, marine and/or coastal engineering.
  • 8+ years’ experience in detailed design of port and/or marine structures, including detailed structural analysis and design for reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, structural steel, timber, and specialized waterfront materials according to US practice codes and standards, including ASCE, ACI, PIANC, etc.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 1–2 years (California PE strongly preferred).
  • General understanding of port planning precepts through working with market forecasts, environmental and social constraints, and navigation safety requirements within the port operational environment.
  • Promised ability to execute and collaborate across multiple concurrent projects in various geographies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey information, including technical details, clearly and effectively.
  • An entrepreneurial “can do” mindset with the ability to work under real-world constraints.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP2000, OPTIMOOR and familiarity with AutoCAD and Staad Pro.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally for short site visits, client meetings, and project workshops as required.
  • Preferred Experience: In Metocean data acquisition, statistical assessment, numerical wave transformation modeling, and application of these on structural design. A programming language (e.g., MATLAB or Python). Advanced finite element software (e.g., Abaqus).

Pay

Salary Range: $130,000 - $149,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skillset, and/or location)
