Marine Service Engineer (MSE)

About the role

Mackay Marine is seeking an experienced Marine Service Engineer (MSE) for their Houston, TX depot. The position involves installing, servicing, and repairing electronic equipment on board ships, including radars, ECDIS, satcoms, HF and VHF radios, GPS, gyrocompasses, autopilots, and sounders.

Responsibilities

• Install, service, and repair electronic equipment on board ships
• Test, adjust, and troubleshoot components, PCBs, sub-assemblies, and antennas
• Load, update, and modify software
• Utilize knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address technical problems
• Compose detailed service reports upon completion of service orders

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience as an MST, MET, or ET in commercial shipping or the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines
• Associate’s Degree or equivalent education, training, and experience
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred
• Physical fitness to carry up to 50 lbs., climb ladders and masts, and work in various weather conditions
• Valid drivers license and reliable transportation
