Marine Electronics Technician – Houston - Customer Service

About the role

Under limited supervision, Marine Electronics Technicians install, service, and repair marine electronic equipment such as radios, radars, sonars, etc. on-board commercial ships. They test, adjust, and troubleshoot components and antennas as well as load, update, and modify software. METs utilize their knowledge of electronic theory and circuitry to address a variety of technical problems. They also make intelligent use of complex schematics, blueprints, and manuals to accurately achieve assignments and, upon completion, compose a detailed service report.

Requirements

• 3+ years of MSE, MET, ET, or AT experience in commercial shipping and/or acquired in the Navy, Coast Guard, or Marines.
• Associate degree or equivalent technical training and experience.
• Strong knowledge of electronics theory and application.
• Valid FCC General License with Radar Endorsement and GMDSS Radio Operator Maintainer License preferred.
• Physically fit; work environment often involves carrying up to 50 lbs., climbing ladders and masts, and exposure to weather.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. and able to pass a thorough background check.
