About the Role
We are looking for a hands-on Service Engineer with Hydraulic and Electric competence to perform repair, maintenance, and service on critical marine equipment, including MacGregor’s and third-party shipboard cranes, ship machinery, and winches. Your main discipline will be hydraulic and electric systems, with a basic understanding of mechanical systems as a plus. You will work both offshore and at local shipyards and ports worldwide, maintaining flexible working hours in response to demand.
Responsibilities
- Diagnostics and troubleshooting of hydraulic and electrical equipment
- Supervise and perform refurbishment, upgrades, inspections, preventative maintenance, and corrective actions
- Identify service and spares sales opportunities and communicate them to the line manager
- Support Service overall goals and budgets
- Prepare detailed service reports and documentation for all work performed
- Ensure all activities comply with the Integrated Management System (IMS), QHSE, and MacGregor standards
You will report directly to the Operations Superintendent, with the position based in Houston, Texas.
Requirements
- Background in the offshore or maritime industry, with a focus on hydraulic, mechanical, and electric equipment
- Independent professional with confidence to make decisions under pressure
- Effective communication skills and flexibility to adapt to new information
- Enjoy hands-on work and thrive in a collaborative, multicultural environment
Qualifications
- Technical education at college in electrical or mechanical disciplines, or a similar relevant field
- Minimum 5 years of hydraulic and electric experience
- Basic working knowledge of electronics; experience with PLCs is a plus
- Previous experience with ship and/or port cranes, winches
- Willingness and ability to travel for extended periods of time
- Fluent in both written and spoken English
