Marine Interdiction Agent

About the role

Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), seeks Marine Interdiction Agents to join an elite team of highly trained professionals. These agents protect America through law enforcement operations, detecting, preventing, interdicting, and apprehending threats at our nation's borders.

Responsibilities

• Maintain vigilance over behavior patterns and activities of suspected individuals, vehicles, or vessels engaged in illegal activities.
• Interpret radar data to guide effective interceptions and track vessels and people towards successful interdictions.
• Search persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons, ensuring thoroughness and accuracy.
• Collect, refine, and analyze strategic and tactical intelligence to support law enforcement efforts.

Qualifications

• Minimum qualification: Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).
• Experience: At least 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level, including:
• Independently controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes.
• Conducting investigative inquiries and preparing comprehensive reports.
• Utilizing advanced surveillance equipment and testifying in court proceedings.
• Applying arrest authorities and constitutional law in various criminal situations.

Requirements

• Citizenship: U.S. Citizen.
• Residency: Primary U.S. residency for at least 3 of the past 5 years.
• Age: Must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before turning 40.
• Veterans' Preference: Proof of veteran's preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) required.
• Training: Completion of required training as a condition of employment.
• Travel: May be required based on operational needs.
