About the role
Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), seeks Marine Interdiction Agents to join an elite team of highly trained professionals. This role involves marine-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, interdict, and apprehend threats, including terrorists, weapons, and illegal entry.
Responsibilities
- Independently apply advanced skills in controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes, including conducting searches, making arrests, processing arrests and seizure of evidence and property.
- Conduct investigative inquiries using various techniques, examine files and records, physical and documentary evidence to identify logical conclusions.
- Utilize cameras and other electronic high-tech surveillance equipment to gather evidence, collect, evaluate, and preserve physical and documentary evidence.
- Write comprehensive arrest, criminal and incident reports.
- Assist government or state attorneys in preparing for court cases or grand juries, testify in court proceedings, and participate in administrative forums.
- Apply arrest authorities and constitutional law in various alleged criminal situations, or demonstrate knowledge and experience of CBP laws, regulations, policies, legal precedent.
Requirements
- Qualifying Merchant Mariner Credential.
- One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes, conducting searches, making arrests, processing arrests and seizure of evidence and property.
- Three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D., or LL.M., or a combination of successfully completed post-bachelors’ education and experience.
- An accepted MMLD application for a qualifying capacity on a Merchant Mariner Credential (MMC).
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen.
- Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
- Age: Not applicable due to age waiver for preference eligible veterans.
- Veterans' Preference Eligibility: Proof of Veteran's Preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) required.
- Training: Completion of required training as a condition of employment.
- Travel: May be expected to travel for operational needs.
Benefits
The salary range for the GS-11 grade level is $105,931 to $164,075 annually, with possible additional compensation based on duty location. Recruitment Incentive and Law Enforcement Availability Pay (LEAP) are also available.
