About the role
Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), seeks Marine Interdiction Agents to join an elite team of highly trained professionals. This role involves marine-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, interdict, and apprehend threats entering the United States.
Responsibilities
- Independently apply advanced skills in controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes, including conducting searches, making arrests, processing arrests and seizure of evidence and property.
- Conduct investigative inquiries using various techniques, examine files and records, physical and documentary evidence to identify logical conclusions.
- Utilize cameras and other electronic high-tech surveillance equipment to gather evidence, collect, evaluate, and preserve physical and documentary evidence.
- Write comprehensive arrest, criminal and incident reports.
- Assist government or state attorneys in preparing for court cases or grand juries, testify as a law enforcement officer in court proceedings, and participate in administrative forums.
- Apply arrest authorities and constitutional law in various alleged criminal situations, or demonstrate knowledge and experience of CBP laws, regulations, policies, legal precedent.
Qualifications
- Minimum qualification: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes, conducting searches, making arrests, processing arrests and seizure of evidence and property, etc.
- Education substitution: A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M., or a combination of successfully completed post-bachelors’ education and experience.
- Required documents: Valid, legible Merchant Mariner Credential with expiration and capacity pages, proof of Veteran's Preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy).
Benefits
- Salary range: $105,931 - $191,284 per year based on grade level and duty location.

- Incentives: Recruitment Incentive of $10,000 after completing FLETC, and Retention Incentive of 25% for Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB) locations.
Requirements
- Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Residency: Must have had primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
- Age: Not applicable due to veteran preference eligibility.
- Training: Required to successfully complete the training requirement as a condition of employment.
- Travel: May be expected to travel for this position based on operational needs.
