About the role

Air and Marine Operations (AMO), a component of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), seeks Marine Interdiction Agents to join an elite team of highly trained professionals. These agents protect America through law enforcement operations, focusing on the detection, prevention, interdiction, and apprehension of threats.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain control and command of law enforcement scenes, including conducting searches, making arrests, and seizing evidence and property.
  • Interpret radar data to track vessels and people for successful interdictions.
  • Search persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons.
  • Collect, refine, and analyze strategic and tactical intelligence.

Qualifications

  • Minimum qualification: Merchant Mariner Credential.
  • Experience: One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes, conducting investigations, and assisting in legal matters.
  • Education: Ph.D., LL.M., or a combination of experience and education.
  • Other requirements: U.S. citizenship, primary U.S. residency for at least three years, and meeting age and veteran preference eligibility criteria.

Pay and Schedule

Salaries range from $105,931 to $191,284 annually, depending on location and experience. The position offers a 25% retention incentive for Caribbean Air and Marine Branch (CAMB) locations and Key West, FL, Marathon, FL, and Long Beach, CA.

Skills

Highly skilled in writing comprehensive arrest, criminal, and incident reports, testifying in court proceedings, and applying arrest authorities and constitutional law. Proficiency in using cameras and electronic surveillance equipment is essential.
