About the role
AMO is actively seeking applicants to fill full-time security-based positions with the nation’s largest law enforcement organization charged with maintaining the security of our national borders while facilitating lawful international travel and trade.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining law enforcement scenes, including conducting searches, making arrests, processing arrests and seizure of evidence and property.
- Interpreting radar data to calculate appropriate intercept while tracking vessels and people to a successful interdiction.
- Searching persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons incidental to detention or arrest.
- Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence.
Qualifications
- A minimum qualification requires a Merchant Mariner Credential.
- Education substitution for experience: Ph.D., LL.M., or a combination of experience and education.
- U.S. Coast Guard Issued Merchant Mariner Credentials (MMC) must be submitted at the time of application.
Benefits
- Salary range: $105,931 - $191,284 per year based on grade level and location.
- Recruitment Incentive: $10,000 after completing FLETC (1 year service agreement needed).

- Limited Duty Locations: Fort Lauderdale, Miami, Marathon, FL; Fajardo, Mayaguez, Ponce, San Juan PR; Saint Thomas, VI; Port Huron, MI; Houma, LA; San Diego, CA.
Requirements
- Citizenship: U.S. Citizen.
- Residency: Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
- Age: Must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching 40th birthday.
- Veterans' Preference Eligibility: Proof of veteran's preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) required.
- Training: Completion of required training as a condition of employment.
- Travel: May be expected to travel for this position based on operational needs.
