About the role

AMO is actively seeking applicants to fill full-time security-based positions with the nation’s largest law enforcement organization charged with maintaining the security of our national borders while facilitating lawful international travel and trade.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining control and command of law enforcement scenes.
  • Conducting investigative inquiries.
  • Interpreting radar data.
  • Searching persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons.
  • Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence.

Qualifications

  • A minimum qualification requires a Merchant Mariner Credential.
  • Experience in controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes.
  • Examination of files and records, physical and documentary evidence.
  • Utilizing cameras and other electronic high-tech surveillance equipment.
  • Writing comprehensive arrest, criminal and incident reports.
  • Assisting government or state attorneys.
  • Apprehending terrorists, terrorist weapons, and other contraband and persons.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years.
  • Age requirement: Must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching their 40th birthday.
  • Veteran's Preference Eligibility.
  • Training: Successful completion of required courses.
  • Travel: May be expected to travel for this position based on operational needs.

Benefits

Great pay, benefits, and job stability. Recruitment Incentive: New hires may receive a one-time Recruitment Incentive payout of $10,000 after completing Federal Law Enforcement Training Academy (FLETC).

Pay

Salary and Benefits begin at $105,931 for GS-11 grade level and increase based on experience and location.

Schedule

Duty locations will be offered after successful completion of the pre-employment process. Possible duty locations include: Southwest Region, Southeast Region, Caribbean Air and Marine Branch, and others.
