About the role
AMO is actively seeking applicants to fill full-time security-based positions with the nation’s largest law enforcement organization charged with maintaining the security of our national borders while facilitating lawful international travel and trade.
Responsibilities
- Maintaining law enforcement scenes by controlling and commanding.
- Conducting investigative inquiries and collecting evidence.
- Interpreting radar data and searching vessels and cargo for contraband.
- Writing comprehensive arrest, criminal, and incident reports.
- Assisting in court cases and testifying in administrative forums.
- Applying arrest authorities and constitutional law in various criminal situations.
Requirements
- A minimum of 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes, conducting investigative inquiries, and writing arrest reports.
- A qualifying Merchant Mariner Credential.
- Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M.
- An accepted MMLD application for a qualifying capacity.
Qualifications
- GS-11 grade level requires a Merchant Mariner Credential.
- Education substitution for experience: Ph.D., LL.M., or a combination of post-bachelor’s education and experience.
- Age requirement: Must be referred for selection to the Border Patrol Agent position before reaching 40th birthday.
- Veterans' Preference: Proof of veteran's preference (DD-214 Member 4 Copy) required.
Pay
Salary range: $105,931 - $191,284 per year based on grade level and location.
Schedule
Duty locations are offered based on current needs and may include the Southwest Region, Southeast Region, and Caribbean Air and Marine Branch. Final duty location is determined after the pre-employment process.
