Marine Electrical Engineer II - Arlington, VA
About the Role
Serco is seeking an enthusiastic Electrical Engineer to join our Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) in Arlington, VA. This role involves mentoring junior engineers and engaging in the design, construction, support, and evaluation of high-performance maritime systems for U.S. Navy and commercial customers. The position is ideal for those looking to impact the maritime engineering field through innovative solutions and traditional excellence. This role is contingent upon obtaining a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.
- Develop power/control system hardware and software drawings, schematics, test procedures, and specifications, applying industry and regulatory body requirements such as ABS SVR, IEEE 45, NFPA, CFR46, and MIL Specifications.
- Develop baseline requirements and architecture for New Construction ships based on acquisition and requirements documents.
- Interface externally with vendors and customers to ensure delivered systems meet technical performance specifications.
- Evaluate designs of shipboard machinery control and monitoring systems, interior communication systems, and integrate instrumentation and alarm functions for these systems.
- Travel onboard naval ships to support installation or troubleshooting of Power Systems for hardware and software.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance post-employment.
- A minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in one of the following marine fields: electric propulsion systems; machinery control systems; power generation and distribution systems; or interior communications systems.
- Knowledge of MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook), MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder (Real-Time Workshop), and PLC programming.
- Ability to execute a ship check at a shipyard or Naval Base.
- Experience writing requirements and drafting Statement of Work (SOW) and Technical Instructions.
- Knowledge of ABS SVR, IEEE 45, CFR46, NFPA, and MIL specifications.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to work well alone and as part of a team.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Pay
The salary range for this position is provided as a general guideline and represents a good faith estimate across all experience levels. Actual base salary will be determined by factors including scope of the role, relevant experience, job-related knowledge, education, training, key skills, and geographic market considerations. For roles available in multiple states, the range may vary to reflect differences in local labor markets. In addition to base salary, eligible positions may include other forms of compensation such as annual bonuses or long-term incentive opportunities.
