About the role

Serco has a great opportunity for an Electrical Engineer to join the Maritime Engineering Operation (MEO) team, supporting the U.S. Navy and commercial customers. The successful candidate will mentor junior engineers and engage in the design, construction, support, and evaluation of high-performance maritime systems for various customers.

Responsibilities

  • Develop power/control system hardware and software drawings, schematics, test procedures, and specifications, applying industry and regulatory body requirements
  • Develop baseline requirements and architecture for New Construction ships based on acquisition and requirements documents
  • Interface externally with vendors and customers to ensure the delivered system meets technical performance specifications
  • Evaluate designs of shipboard machinery control and monitoring systems, interior communication systems, and integrate instrumentation and alarm functions for these systems
  • Travel onboard naval ships and support install or troubleshoot of Power Systems for hardware and software

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 2 years of experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance post-employment
  • Minimum of two (2) years of progressive experience in one of the following marine fields: electric propulsion systems; machinery control systems; power generation and distribution systems; or interior communications systems
  • Knowledge of MS Office 2010 (Excel, Word, Outlook), MATLAB, Simulink, Simulink Coder (Real-Time Workshop), and PLC programming
  • Ability to execute a ship check at a shipyard or Naval Base
  • Experience writing requirements and drafting Statement of Work (SOW) and Technical Instruction
  • Knowledge of ABS SVR, IEEE 45, CFR46, NFPA, and MIL specifications
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • U.S Citizenship required
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Pay

Salary range for this position is provided as a general guideline and represents a good faith estimate across all experience levels. Actual base salary will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to, the scope of the role, relevant experience, job-related knowledge, education and training, key skills, and geographic market considerations.

Schedule

Ability to travel up to 10% of the time. The application window for this position is for no more than 60 days.
