The Tides Inn is a beloved waterfront, luxury resort nestled on Carter’s Creek in Irvington, Virginia. Recently renovated, the resort features 70 luxurious accommodations, tennis and pickleball courts, a full-service spa, an 18-hole golf course, a functioning farm, Maker’s Space (artistic activities), a large marina, and two cherished restaurants, including Salt & Meadow Restaurant. About the Role
The Marina Attendant is responsible for the daily operations of the marina complex, including physical labor, guest services, clerical procedures, and reporting. This role ensures guest services meet Forbes Standards.
Responsibilities
- Provide excellent, Forbes-based customer service.
- Orient guests to the property and available services.
- Deliver welcome amenities for arriving Marina guests.
- Assist guests with docking vessels, including tying lines and connecting utilities.
- Provide instructions for use of all marina watercraft.
- Assist guests in the usage of marina watercraft, including launch and recovery.
- Provide trash removal services for guests.
- Deliver ice, packages, and luggage; assist with ground transportation.
- Operate company vehicles with and without guests.
- Facilitate fuel sales.
- Perform vessel maintenance on all Tides Inn vessels.
- Answer the phone and communicate appropriately by VHF radio.
- Perform required steps to open and close the Marina.
- Assist with other duties as assigned by Marina Manager or Supervisor.
- Serve as ground crew for arriving seaplanes as required by pilots.

Requirements
- Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing is required.
- Basic computer skills are required.
- Excellent line handling abilities are required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to pass a DMV insurance check is required.
- Self-starting attitude and willingness to learn and retain knowledge necessary for daily work schedule is required.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to operate a marine radio system.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- VA Boaters License.
- Previous experience in guest service or marina environment.
- Knowledge of marine terminology and equipment.

- Manual Dexterity: Required on uneven surfaces and in inclement weather.
- Driving Requirements: Golf cart, transportation of others (motor vehicle record monitoring may be required).
