About the Production
A Meek Girl (1876), Fyodor Dostoyevsky’s novella, was adapted for the stage in a multimedia production by Persona Theatre Company and performed at Studio Mavromichali, Athens, in 2012. The story centers on a lonely, embittered pawn maker who confronts his own isolation and moral beliefs following a tragic event. Inspired by a real incident in Russia, the narrative explores the protagonist’s detachment from humanity while paradoxically seeking connection, echoing themes from Notes from the Underground.
The protagonist, portrayed by acclaimed Greek actor Nikos Giorgakis, grapples with the aftermath of his young wife Maria Borisova’s fate, blurring fantasy and reality in a haunting, inevitable climax.
