About the role

As part of the operations system team, you will work with highly motivated engineers, experts, and innovators in the data center industry. The Facilities Reliability Group (FRG) Technician will have a direct impact on the overall customer experience. This role involves assisting the FRG team in designing solutions for complex problems, managing outside contractors, being on call for emergencies, handling multiple projects and daily activities, and meeting tough timelines. The FRG Technician will help develop and execute plans to establish and complete department goals.

The FRG Technician is responsible for the continuous remote monitoring of site conditions and triaging incoming alarms and incident alerts to establish a standardized response to critical issues across the portfolio. This role also requires assisting the FRG team and management in providing both reactive and proactive support to all operational facilities teams within the CyrusOne portfolio, directly impacting site productivity and operational success.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the strategic direction for facilities operations.
  • Ensure all safety procedures are followed.
  • Assist in the development of training programs to increase team technical capabilities.
  • Be part of a 24/7/365 team to monitor and assist sites with incident response and management.
  • Assist in the incident management team's operational aspects to protect, maintain, and improve the value of the data centers.
  • Assist in site incident investigation by utilizing structured problem-solving to identify the root cause of failures.
  • Demonstrate the ability to self-start, be responsive, and be creative when finding solutions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality, customer service, and cost performance, and assist in the execution of approved plans.
  • Assist in the creation of reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Assist management to ensure optimal rollout and training in standard tools, processes, and systems.
  • Help create and implement BMS/EPMS training, including mechanical plant management, utilization validation, and report/trend generation.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships across all levels in the organization.
  • Manage multiple project deliverables, requirements, and navigate complex situations.
  • Prioritize and manage resources under high pressure.
  • Assist in FRG-led Root Cause Analysis.

Requirements

  • High School diploma required.
  • Ability to work different shifts within a 24/7/365 coverage strategy.
  • Proven record of cultivating strong relationships with internal stakeholders, vendors, or customers.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
  • Demonstrated understanding of engineering documentation, electrical diagrams, and standard operating procedures.
  • Multilingual is a plus.

Qualifications

  • Three to five (3-5) years of data center experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, or other related engineering fields preferred.
