Mapper I or II

Cache County is seeking a Mapper I or II to join the Recorder's office. This role involves technical drafting and analytical work to create, maintain, and update land ownership records, parcel abstracts, and ownership plats in compliance with Utah state statutes and Cache County policies.

Responsibilities

• Answer telephone or walk-in inquiries regarding ownership mapping concerns and issues.
• Verify current record title ownership and provide detailed technical assistance to office personnel, county departments, government agencies, land records professionals, and patrons on topics such as taxing district boundaries, record title problems, ownership maps, legal description interpretations, acreage determinations, easements, combined or separated parcels, and parcel numbers.
• Coordinate with planning departments across the county to perform timely subdivision plat reviews.
• Accurately compute and collect recording fees and record qualifying plats submitted for recording.
• Scan plats and enter appropriate data from recorded plats into the county recorder system.
• Process recorded plats in the county recorder system, creating parcels and assigning parcel numbers as described in the recorded plat and per division policy.
• Process daily documents and verify legal descriptions compared to existing record title descriptions.
• Maintain legal descriptions in the county recorder system as required by State Code, including creating legal descriptions for taxation purposes only as required by recorded documents.

Requirements

• Mapper I: Associate's Degree or equivalent and a minimum of six months of hands-on computer-aided drafting experience (preferably with AutoCAD) and a minimum of one year of hands-on experience with land title records or land development.
• Mapper II: Associate's Degree or equivalent and a UAC Recorder's Cadastral Mapping Certification and a minimum of two years of hands-on experience as a Mapper I in the Recorder's Office or a similar equivalent position.
• Ideal candidates will have an Associate's degree or equivalent, a minimum of six months of hands-on computer-aided drafting experience (preferably with AutoCAD), and at least one year of experience with land title or land development records, or a combination of education and experience.

Pay

• Mapper I: $23.87 per hour.
• Mapper II: $24.92 per hour.
