Manufacturing Utility Lead - OPGW

Job Summary

The Manufacturing Utility Operator will monitor, organize, and schedule the daily activities of associates and ensure that customer and AFL specifications are met. They will operate all production lines in their assigned area, support line operators, assist with changeovers, and troubleshoot process problems.

Responsibilities

  • Assess daily production schedules and plan to ensure uninterrupted flow as well as fulfillment of customer delivery requirements.
  • Cover for unplanned operator absences.
  • Develop training documents and facilitate training; assist in trouble shooting issues.
  • Troubleshoot and intervene as needed to address and resolve disruptions as quickly as possible in order to maintain product flow.
  • Establish appropriate channels of feedback to inform upstream departments of defects.
  • Review/update completed nonconforming reports for accuracy and publish KPI metrics as assigned daily.
  • Lead and/or participate in improvements activities.
  • Monitor performance and provide feedback to Manager.
  • Adhere to and promote the environmental, health & safety policies of AFL.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2+ years of manufacturing experience.
  • Understanding of manufacturing safety standards.
  • Previous manufacturing / quality related experience in the cable industry preferred.
  • Oracle, QTS, and ETQ system knowledge preferred.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Outlook, Access, Word and Excel.
  • Basic understanding of Environment Health and Safety (EHS) management systems to include general safety rules, personal protective equipment, hazard recognition, behavioral based safety, incident reporting requirements, and environmental regulations.
  • Practical Understanding of EHS and quality systems.

  • Able to apply basic math and numeric reasoning to solve problems.

Working Conditions

Factory manufacturing environment assigned to either a night or dayshift working a 3-2-2 shift schedule. The work includes frequent lifting, walking, and standing.

Qualifications

  • High School or G.E.D.
