About the role

The Novelis Uhrichsville team is seeking a Manufacturing Unit Manager (MUM) accountable for leading all aspects of a fast-paced manufacturing unit's operational and technical processes that operate 24/7. The position is responsible for providing leadership and direction in health and safety, cost, quality, maintenance, and customer delivery.

Responsibilities

• Manage all operations activities and provide the services needed for the Manufacturing Unit to meet production, operational, and sales objectives.
• Provide strong leadership to the operational teams to develop safe working habits and attitudes.
• Promote a growing understanding of risk and risk mitigation.
• Build successful teams through effective mentorship: setting and achieving goals, conflict resolution, continual improvement mentality, fact-based decision making, use of data for process control, adherence to work instructions and control plans.
• Direct maintenance and reliability programs; ensure achievement of preventive maintenance targets in the manufacturing unit.
• Interface routinely with all department leaders to ensure production, quality, and safety continually improve within Novelis EHS standards.
• Manage expenditures to ensure control within budgetary limits.
• Ensure manufacturing excellence and drive continuous improvement activities within the Manufacturing Unit.
• Drive the execution of the production plan.
• Adhere to and support company quality, environmental, health & safety, and certification standards, including ISO 9001:2015, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 45001:2018, IATF 16949:2016, and ASI Certifications, where applicable.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Engineering.
• 10 or more years of progressive leadership experience within the metals industry.
• Proven track record implementing company policies and achieving results in a complex 24/7 manufacturing operation, preferably managing groups of 50+ employees.
• Knowledge and understanding of budget establishment, cost development, and cost control.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced Degree in Business or Engineering.
• Aluminum manufacturing and rolling experience.

Location Profile

Opened in 1985, the Uhrichsville facility produces flat-rolled aluminum coil. The Recycling mill prepares scrap aluminum that is used in the rolling mill to create rolled aluminum coils to a desired gauge. Anneals temper the aluminum, then it is leveled and sized to customer specification. Employing more than 400 people, the facility produces aluminum sheet for building and construction, automotive, distribution, transportation, and consumer durable applications.
