Manufacturing Training Specialist

About the role

This position is responsible for creating training content, leading On-the-Job (OJT) and classroom training of manufacturing employees, coordinating training schedules, monitoring and evaluating training effectiveness, and ensuring compliance with all STERIS safety, quality, and operations processes. The role also involves assisting with documentation revision and working closely with Operations, Safety, and Quality Managers to establish training needs. This is an onsite role located in Plymouth, MN.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and execute new training systems, including development of innovative training programs to support manufacturing and peripheral departments.
  • Maintain and enhance Quality systems by identifying, isolating, and resolving problems with existing processes.
  • Utilize available LMS systems/programs to create training content as needed.
  • Conduct training sessions covering orientation, on-the-job training, refresher training, and more.
  • Participate in performance assessments by reporting on skill development and teamwork abilities.
  • Introduce training system upgrades by identifying and implementing more efficient technology and methods.
  • Provide training schedules, coordinate enrollments, and record attendance.
  • Coordinate training schedules for new hire employees and cross-training for current employees.
  • Coordinate HSE (Health, Safety, and Environment) training needs for new hires based on role and line placement.
  • Develop, coordinate, and/or deliver HSE procedures training in conjunction with the HSE Department.
  • Develop, coordinate, and/or deliver Quality procedures training in conjunction with the Quality Department.
  • Update Process Work Instructions (PWIs) and Work Instructions (WI) by working directly with Engineers.
  • Assist with interviewing potential training department candidates.
  • Create course materials (e.g., PowerPoint presentations, class exercises, student handouts, tests, and assessments) to achieve desired learning outcomes through classroom, on-demand videos, and live demonstrations.
  • Audit trainees to measure progress and evaluate training effectiveness.
  • Provide training activities to operations staff and advise line supervisors on employee development techniques.
  • Develop strong relationships with internal customers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 1 year of training experience, or Associate’s degree and a minimum of 3 years of training experience.
  • Degree in business, education, organizational development, or a similar field. In lieu of a degree, a High School diploma/GED and a minimum of 7 years of training experience.
  • Training experience in a similar related industry/work environment (e.g., manufacturing, service, distribution, etc.).
  • Excellent organization, time management, and project management skills.
  • Relevant experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook) and LMS.
  • Accountability and ownership of goals and results.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and drive results in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Data-driven and strategic thinking for solving problems and continuous improvement.
  • Working knowledge of lean tools and concepts along with problem-solving.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and presentation skills.
  • Organized and able to prioritize and manage time effectively.
  • Understanding of Adult Learning Principles.
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions.
  • Understanding of how to encourage, coach, and mentor employees.
  • Ability to work flexible hours to cover multiple shifts as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience working in a regulated environment within the drug and/or medical device industry.

Pay

Onsite pay range for this opportunity is $55,250.00 - $71,500.00. This position is eligible for bonus participation. Minimum pay rates offered will comply with county/city minimums, if higher than the range listed. Pay rates are based on factors including local labor market costs, years of relevant experience, education, professional certifications, and foreign language fluency.

Schedule

The hours for this role are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm. Must be able to occasionally start earlier or stay later based on business needs.
