Manufacturing Testing Engineer
About the role
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Test Engineer to design, develop, and optimize manufacturing test systems for complex electronic and system-level products. This role is critical in ensuring product quality, test coverage, and scalability across production environments.
Responsibilities
Test Development & Automation - Develop and validate automated test programs and fixtures for manufacturing environments. Select and integrate appropriate test equipment for production testing. Design and implement scalable test architectures for system and PCBA-level testing. Create detailed and robust manufacturing test procedures and documentation.
Failure Analysis & Continuous Improvement - Partner with manufacturing and Failure Review Board (FRB) teams to analyze test failures. Drive root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce test escapes. Continuously improve test coverage, reliability, and throughput.
Manufacturing Support - Provide hands-on support to manufacturing test technicians for troubleshooting and repair. Train and guide manufacturing teams on proper use of test equipment and fixtures. Ensure stability and uptime of test systems on the production floor.
Test Systems & Platform Development - Lead end-to-end test system development including concept, architecture, design, prototyping, validation, and deployment. Collaborate with suppliers and third-party vendors for test solutions. Develop scalable test platforms using internal and external technologies.
Software & Test Validation - Define and implement test protocols for software validation. Ensure test plans meet quality standards and production requirements. Support NPI efforts by developing and deploying manufacturing test solutions. Collaborate with local and remote design teams to ensure test readiness for production. Validate test coverage and readiness before product ramp.
Cross-Functional Leadership - Provide technical oversight for contract manufacturers (CMs) and internal manufacturing processes. Mentor and train junior manufacturing and test engineers. Drive best practices across manufacturing test engineering.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or related field
5–7+ years of experience in PCBA and/or system-level manufacturing environments
Strong hands-on experience with manufacturing test systems and troubleshooting
Experience with automated test development and test equipment integration
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work cross-functionally
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with hardware/software integration testing
Familiarity with test frameworks, scripting, and automation tools
Experience working with contract manufacturers and global production environments
Knowledge of quality and reliability methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, DFx)
Experience supporting high-volume manufacturing and product ramp
