About the Role

The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Technician is to test and assemble Counter UAS (C-UAS) systems and products in our manufacturing facility following released engineering drawings and assembly instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Construct mechanical and electrical assemblies using hand and precision tools
  • Final assembly of systems with heavy equipment such as cranes and forklifts
  • Test and troubleshoot sub-assemblies and final assemblies
  • Fabricate electrical wiring, solder components, and wiring
  • Perform light machining and fabrication of metal and composite parts
  • Collaborate with production technicians and engineering to correct and improve documentation, electrical, and mechanical designs
  • Work with manufacturing engineers to improve assembly efficiency, product quality, reduce manufacturing costs, and validate released assembly/fabrication documentation
  • Ensure work tracking paperwork is completed as work is performed
  • Train other technicians in build and testing processes
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing production environment or R&D fabrication lab
  • Experience working within ESD, FOD, and cleanroom environments
  • Proficiency with hand tools, including crimpers, drills, taps, torque wrenches, power tools, and air tools
  • Ability to read blueprints and schematics
  • Good manual dexterity and basic computer operation skills
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • U.S. citizenship with the ability to obtain a security clearance

Qualifications

  • Vocational training in a manufacturing trade is preferred
  • J-STD-001 class II or higher solder experience
  • Experience working with engineering on new product development where documentation and assembly instructions are not yet finalized
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks under minimal supervision and demonstrate problem-solving skills
  • Able to excel in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with small teams sharing a broad variety of duties
  • Strong initiative and drive to accomplish team goals
  • Takes ownership and responsibility for current and past work products
  • Committed to learning from mistakes and improving performance of oneself, others, and the company
  • Focuses on teamwork, collaboration, and prioritizes team success

Physical Demands

  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment
  • Frequent use of hand tools (e.g., clamps) with light, minimal force
  • Extensive on-feet activity throughout the shift
  • Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects up to 50 lbs
  • Frequent use of hand-to-finger movements, handling objects, tools, or controls, and balancing

Pay

The salary range for this role is $21 - $32 per hour. AeroVironment considers several factors when extending an offer, including location, role, responsibilities, work experience, education/training, and key skills.
