This position is based at our Copper Crossing Value Stream (CXVS) facility in Salt Lake City, Utah, supporting the Propulsion Systems Division. Travel is required up to 10% of the time. No relocation assistance or security clearance is required for this role.

This role involves hands-on manufacturing of composite rocket cases within a collaborative team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform tooling assembly and disassembly
  • Conduct case surface preparation
  • Operate composite winding equipment
  • Maintain cleanliness of work areas and facilities
  • Handle hazardous waste materials safely for disposal
  • Operate industrial equipment, including bridge cranes, forklifts, precision measuring instruments, and hand tools
  • Read and interpret blueprints
  • Monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process control and design specifications
  • Start and end helicals and hoops in the carbon winding process, following planning requirements
  • Continuously monitor machinery to ensure winding aligns with established planning and procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

This role requires participation as a team member to enhance safety, quality, cost, and schedule. Shift work and overtime, including weekends and holidays, may be required.

Requirements

  • Willingness to perform shift work and overtime as required
  • Valid state driver’s license
  • Ability to understand and apply stringent procedures
  • Experience with safe handling of equipment and materials in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to monitor and verify quality per design specifications

Skills & Qualifications

  • Able to work physically demanding days, including standing for long periods, working from knees, ascending/descending ladders, and lifting/bending/twisting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable wearing protective equipment (respirator, coveralls, gloves, eye and ear protection)
  • Able to read, comprehend, and follow written instructions without deviation
  • Perform basic math and measurement functions
  • Weigh materials for mixing processes
  • Work with resins, carbon fiber, and chemical cleaning processes (e.g., industrial degreaser)
  • Work with aluminum oxide cloth

Basic Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 0-1 years of related composite or mechanical work experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree or Technical Certificate related to composite materials

Pay

Primary salary range: $37,400.00 – $62,400.00. Base salary is determined by factors such as scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s experience, education, skills, and current market conditions. Eligible employees may receive overtime pay, shift differentials, and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and company results. Vice President or Director positions may qualify for Long Term Incentives.

Schedule

This is a weekday, day-shift position with 12-hour rotating shifts (including Thursdays). Overtime is worked as necessary.
