Manufacturing Supervisor

About the Role

Accomplishes manufacturing objectives by supervising, organizing, and coordinating production efforts. Ensures the safe operation of equipment and processes to protect employees.

Responsibilities

  • Plans, supervises, and directs daily production operations, anticipating and resolving issues like material shortages, equipment malfunctions, and employee-related situations to minimize downtime and meet production and quality goals.
  • Optimizes work hours, materials, and workflow to achieve production and quality objectives.
  • Exchanges timely information with supervisors both inside and outside the department regarding product flow and workforce needs.
  • Coaches, instructs, trains, orients, and motivates employees to meet production and quality objectives safely and effectively.
  • Leads departmental teams to achieve goals, focusing on coaching and developing hourly employees using the hourly certification system.
  • Participates in the selection and interview process for hourly employee positions.
  • Appraises employee performance, recommending promotions, transfers, and work assignments.
  • Drives cost reductions, work simplifications, and continuous improvements in methods or equipment.
  • Supervises and leads departmental safety and housekeeping practices, maintaining vigilance for hazardous conditions and responding to emergencies as needed.
  • Educates employees and enforces company rules, including safety regulations, policies, procedures, and production/quality expectations.
  • Assists Human Resources with disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Leads and participates in company-sponsored activities such as training, site projects, and safety programs.
  • Handles production-related administrative tasks, including payroll hours approval, reporting, and other associated duties.
  • Performs additional tasks as requested by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • At least 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous leadership experience as a Team Lead or supervisor strongly preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt strongly preferred.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional motivator with skills in team leadership and conflict resolution.
  • Proficiency in supervising fast-paced industrial environments.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and ERP software.
