Responsibilities
- Execute the day to day process of reviewing jobs, work orders, and routings and ensure all labor corrections and jobs completions are done accurately and correctly;
- Develop turnout and ensure proper workflow through the department;
- Partner with Scheduling/Panning to ensure the correct jobs are being moved through the shop;
- Execute the LDM process and meetings, ensure all metrics, KPI’s and important operations information is compiled, analyzed and posted on LDM Boards;
- Facilitates problem solving sessions to address operational and technical performance, determine root cause, and implement permanent corrective actions;
- Evaluate KPI’s and support changes and improvements to help exceed Surpass Operating System objectives;
- Mentor, train, and inspire department personnel on Lean, 5S, and continuous improvement principles and projects;
- Sponsor projects and foster the culture of continuous improvements;
- Work with Manufacturing Manager and others to develop, implement, and execute and maintain a standardized training process for all department personnel;
- Create standardized work instructions to ensure new employees are consistently trained on all manufacturing processes;
- Ensure all employees are listed on the Master training matrix and that all periodic retraining’s are completed on time;
- Schedule work of personnel taking into consideration overall lead times of given projects;
- Anticipate and resolve bottlenecks when work competes for the same resources;
- Schedule and track machining, polishing, fit up prior to plate, inspection, outside services-plating, inspection, assembly;
- Evaluation and determination on when parts are ready for plate-finishes as well as fits and alignments;
- Work with Programmers to develop methods for parts & assemblies as well as scheduling job releases for machining & assembly;
- Work with outside vendors for quoting of stripping and plating, quote new parts after Methods are completed;
- Provide updates on the status of machining/assemblies, proposing project milestones, completion of milestones and project delivery.
Qualifications/Skills
- At least eight (8) years of progressive job responsibilities working in a manufacturing setting;
- Proven understanding of and experience in a high precision machining and assembly environment;
- At minimum three (3) years in a supervisory role;
- Knowledge of schematic documentation and dimensioning and able to read and interpret engineering drawings, parts, and specifications;
- Strong problem solving skills and the ability to effectively solve problems both on an individual and collaborative approach;
- Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office 365 and production software;
- Familiarity with ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems – preferably Epicor;
- Effective communication, organizational, analytical and interpersonal skills.
