About the Role
This position involves developing and supervising direct reports, ensuring compliance with standards, and supporting continuous improvement efforts within the department and plant.
Responsibilities
- Identify developmental needs for each employee, train, coach, and orient new and current employees on QS9000/ISO14001, safety, company policy, and other relevant standards.
- Monitor and audit job enhancement progress, assign daily work, evaluate performance, facilitate teamwork, and provide coaching, counseling, and discipline as needed.
- Support and enforce work rules, including safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards, ensuring employees wear all required personal protective equipment (PPE) properly.
- Apply corrective actions in a timely manner and ensure weekly department meetings are held to communicate updates on business requirements, safety, policies, and procedures.
- Enforce plant policies, procedures, and practices by formally coaching and counseling employees when violations occur.
- Plan resource utilization by determining labor needs based on production requirements, assigning workstation rotations, and coordinating with support groups for efficient labor use.
- Schedule vacations, holidays, overtime, and special assignments based on business operations and needs.
- Provide tools, PPE, and materials to employees for job completion.
- Solve operational problems by identifying issues, assisting in data collection and analysis, implementing corrective actions, and monitoring progress.
- Work closely with continuous improvement efforts to reduce costs and create efficiencies (e.g., 5S safety improvements, lean initiatives).
- Complete work orders and preventative maintenance (PMs) during downtime, ensuring prioritized completion.
- Handle administrative duties, including daily production records, crash reports, and safety instance reports.
