About the role
Responsible for the preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance and operation of a high-speed ammunition production line. Team members work collaboratively to address line issues and implement ongoing improvement activities. Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
Responsibilities
- Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) to increase equipment reliability and uptime.
- Documents all checks, services, and repairs to maintain equipment manufacturer warranties and comply with plant, local, state, and federal requirements.
- Performs repairs on facilities, systems, equipment, or components in a timely and economically feasible manner.
- Assists other technical and manufacturing employees in maintaining plant property, systems, and equipment.
- Serves as a team member to solve problems or implement improvements.
- Produces product according to job instructions using expert knowledge of on-call operations within the facility.
- Adheres to all housekeeping and sanitation standards, including 5S standards.
- Strives to become proficient in all manufacturing cells.
- Troubleshoots mechanical repairs (excluding electrical work) and performs preventative maintenance as required.
- Performs required quality inspections and completes necessary station tracking transactions.
- Maintains a clean, uncluttered work area according to 5S standards.
- Works overtime when required.
- Assists with other projects or tasks as directed by Team Leader or management.
- Troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs PLC-controlled, high-speed production equipment to ensure a safe and productive work environment.
- Complies with all safety standards and regulations (e.g., LOTOT, Work Permits).
- Prioritizes and self-schedules maintenance work around production activities to achieve both production and maintenance KPIs.
- Operates machinery and achieves key performance metrics.
Requirements
- High School diploma, G.E.D. certificate, or recognized equivalent.
- Ability to speak, read, and write in English to:
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervision.
- Read and comprehend process instructions.
- Record pertinent process information as required.
- Minimum 3 years of industrial or specialized maintenance experience preferred, or a recognized certificate of training or diploma in general mechanics and 2 years of verifiable experience in a similar role.
- Must pass a written comprehension test and mechanical aptitude evaluation.
- Experience with mechanical drives, mechanical installation, and alignment techniques (e.g., motor/gearbox, pumps, sprockets, sheaves).
- Proficiency in using precision measurement tools.
- Ability to read and interpret machine manuals, schematics, electrical blueprints, and process control diagrams.
- Experience with AC/DC and servo motors, limit and proximity switches, photo-electric sensors, and solenoid valves.
- Ability to work within a 4-day, 7-shift operation.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel for data collection and interpretation.
Work Environment
The role involves exposure to the following conditions:
- Frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts, extreme heat, explosives, and vibration.
- Occasional exposure to wet/humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and extreme cold.
- Loud noise levels requiring hearing protection.
- Required safety gear: approved safety glasses with side shields or goggles, and steel-toe safety shoes.
- Tasks may include working with or exposure to hazardous areas, including flammables and explosives. Safety training is provided.
Physical Demands
- Vision correctable to 20/20 with normal color vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision.
- Ability to repeatedly lift and move up to 35 lbs. unaided.
- Ability to stand or sit for up to 3 hours at a time.
- Frequent kneeling, crouching, bending, or extending reach to perform tasks.
- Ability to ascend and descend stairs.
- Ability to grasp and feel small parts.
Pay
Hourly Rate: $29.33 - $34.17. The actual annual salary offered will be based on experience, geographic location, education, and skills/achievements.
