Responsibilities

  • Performs daily health monitoring, clinical care and enrichment for farm and laboratory animals.
  • Communicates with clinical veterinarians, animal care staff and investigators on a regular basis, including all animal welfare needs.
  • Executes study procedures in an ethical and responsible manner, according to a written animal use protocol.
  • Maintains and monitors various reports and records including animal health and husbandry records.
  • Prepares and submits specimens for testing at diagnostic laboratories as determined necessary by the clinical veterinarians.
  • Operates machines and production equipment safely and in accordance with instructions.
  • Maintains accurate daily production records so that manufacturing performance can be analyzed.
  • Participates in the training of animal care staff in proper animal handling and care techniques.

Requirements

  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to work a shift schedule that includes both Saturdays and Sundays or holidays on a rotating basis.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience
  • Preferred: Experience with livestock, including small ruminants or hoof stock; applicable college degree in relevant major such as Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Nursing, or related field; AALAS Certification (ALAT, LAT, LATG); experience with operating heavy farm equipment (e.g., skid steer, tractor).

Pay

The base pay for this position is $22.50 – $45.00 per hour. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.

Schedule

Rotating shift schedule including Saturdays and Sundays or holidays.
