Manufacturing Site Chemical Engineer
About the role
Chemours is seeking a Chemical Engineer to join our growing Manufacturing Technology team at the Corpus Christi Plant in Ingleside, Texas. This role reports directly to the Manufacturing Technology Manager and supports the Thermal & Specialized Solutions Business, focusing on the production of refrigerant gases. The Corpus Christi site is a multi-unit manufacturing facility with well-established product lines and a recently built Low GWP production line. The manufacturing technology group at this facility includes over 20 professionals across various specialties.
As a Support Engineer, you will provide Process Engineering guidance and support for Operations, Maintenance, and Technology Teams, focusing on day-to-day troubleshooting and improvement programs in Safety (PSM), UPTIME, reliability, cost, and new capital installations. The operating units are highly hazardous processes (OSHA PSM Covered Processes).
Responsibilities
- Provide engineering and troubleshooting assistance for synthesis, refining, storage, and shipping operations to enhance safety, operability, quality, and cost.
- Monitor processes using Uptime Software, Aspen Process Explorer, and statistical process control to identify improvement opportunities.
- Lead and participate in Safety, Reliability, and Quality Investigations to drive continuous improvement.
- Support cost and capital projects, including generating Basic Data, economic justification, FEL activities, and coordinating installation and commissioning.
- Participate in and lead Process Hazards Analyses for assigned processes.
- Perform process tests to improve safety, quality, environment, and cost.
- Maintain technical expertise through training, seminars, and professional organizations.
- Provide shift/weekend coverage for start-ups, tests, maintenance turnarounds, operator training, or other non-routine needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Demonstrated knowledge of basic chemical engineering principles.
- Ability to diagnose and solve technical problems using data-based decisions.
- Experience working both independently and in a team environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong customer focus.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively across all levels of an organization.
- High degree of initiative and flexibility to advance projects safely and timely.
- Ability to prioritize and manage short deadlines, emergencies, and multiple priorities.
- Willingness and ability to wear required PPE (e.g., steel toes, hard hat, Nomex, eye protection, respirators).
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications, Teams, and related systems.
- Ability to promote peer development, cross-training, and collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in a related manufacturing industry or Military Equivalent Experience.
- Prior experience in operations troubleshooting with field personnel.
- Strong background in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA).
- Experience with Process Safety Management (PSM) and Hazard Analysis.
- Experience applying Lean methodologies to maintenance processes and supporting business systems implementation.

Pay
Pay Range: $77,644.00 - $121,320.00 (Chemours Level 23). Annual Bonus Target: 6%. The pay range and incentives are based on the primary job location and consider factors such as responsibilities, experience, knowledge, skills, internal equity, and market data. Incentive pay depends on business results and individual performance.
