Manufacturing - Sewing Operator
About the role
The Production Operator is responsible for performing various tasks in the pillow and/or mattress assembly process. Responsibilities include Beater/Bagger, Retail Box Maker/Closer, Master Carton Maker/Stacker, Pillow Line Prep, Sewer, Machine Operator, Mattress Assembler, and Utility roles. The position requires prioritizing effectively, operating efficiently, and maintaining a high level of quality.
Responsibilities
- Beater/Bagger: Smooths out the fill within the pillows, inserts a half core and zips pillow closed, ensures quality standard before packaging.
- Retail Box Maker/Closer: Cleans and erects retail cartons, closes retail cartons on a conveyor, packs products into master cartons.
- Master Carton Maker/Stacker: Verifies shipping labels, erects and tapes master cartons, stacks and moves filled cartons.
- Pillow Line Prep: Prepares shells, active cores, and pillow bags, verifies pillow compliance, stamps, and conducts quality checks.
- Sewer: Uses a single needle industrial machine to stitch closed pillows, ensuring they meet quality requirements.
- Machine Operator: Safely operates pillow and/or mattress machines, performs basic daily maintenance.
- Mattress Assembler: Orientates foam, joins foam components with adhesive glue, applies FR socks and sews shut, applies mattress cover, feeds finished mattress into compress/roll machine, removes rolled mattress, boxes and palletizes finished product.
- Utility: Performs general housekeeping, maintains production department, communicates when trash compactors are full, learns to use a bailer for corrugated material.
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and have IDs needed to verify.
- English literate and proficient (reading, writing, speaking, comprehension).
- Willing to work mandatory overtime when needed.
- Willing and able to submit to pre-employment and random drug testing.
- Able to pass all safety training tests.
- Able to lift up to 50lbs.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in operations within a factory environment is preferred.
- Experience operating a forklift or pallet jack is a plus.
- At least 2 years of experience operating an industrial sewing machine is preferred.
- Strong familiarity with sourcing foam, fibers, threads, and boxes is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of quality assurance standards and processes is required.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Pay
$17.00 - $22.75 per hour (Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law)
Schedule
Monday – Thursday, 6:00am-4:30pm (30-minute lunch break)
