About the role
The Senior/Principal Manufacturing Quality Engineer (Assembly) provides advanced quality engineering support for pallet, housing, and final assemblies used in a semiconductor manufacturing environment. This role focuses on soldered and mechanical assemblies built to IPC, military, and aerospace standards and requires hands-on involvement in risk management, problem resolution, customer communication, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities
- Making sure all products meet the required standards and specifications.
- Supporting quality assurance activities for pallet, housing, and final assemblies used in semiconductor manufacturing operations.
- Developing, reviewing, and maintaining inspection criteria, workmanship standards, control plans, and PFMEAs for soldered and mechanical assemblies.
- Reviewing assembly drawings, travelers, and work instructions for quality completeness and compliance.
- Providing in-process quality support and supporting final acceptance of assembled products.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable requirements including MIL-PRF-19500 / 38534 / 38535, MIL-STD-883 / 750 / 202, JEDEC standards, and IPC-A-600, IPC-A-610, and J-STD-001.
- Leading and supporting MRB activities, nonconformance investigations, and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methodologies (8D/CAPA).
- Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Partnership with manufacturing, engineering, supply chain, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.
Requirements
- MSEE with 6 to 15 years of experience or BSEE with 8 or more years of experience in quality engineering supporting mechanical and/or soldered assemblies in a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Experience in Quality engineering minus this experience will not be sufficient.
- Working knowledge of IPC workmanship standards and military/aerospace quality requirements.
- Demonstrated experience with PFMEA, control plans, MRB, and corrective action methods.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including customer-facing presentations.
Qualifications
- On-line factory experience in a mid to high volume assembly manufacturing environment/facility is a critical requirement.
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing or other high-reliability electronics environments.
- Familiarity with statistical analysis and data-driven quality tools.
