Manufacturing Quality Technician III
Job Summary
The Manufacturing Quality Technician III will lead quality efforts for complex manufacturing processes requiring precision, compliance, and technical expertise. Diagnose and resolve high-impact quality issues while driving continuous improvement. Act as a technical authority and mentor within the quality function.
Essential Job Functions
- Lead structured root cause investigations using methodologies such as 5 Whys, Fishbone, and Pareto analysis.
- Analyze SPC data and identify process capability gaps (Cp/Cpk).
- Troubleshoot complex issues involving equipment, materials, or process variation.
- Interface with PLC/HMI systems to monitor or diagnose process-related quality issues.
- Develop, revise, and standardize inspection procedures and quality documentation.
- Lead internal audits and prepare documentation for customer or regulatory audits.
- Investigate supplier quality issues and coordinate corrective actions.
- Mentor Level I and II technicians, providing guidance and training.
- Partner with engineering on process validation and design improvements.
- Implement continuous improvement projects targeting scrap reduction and yield optimization.
- Evaluate and recommend process changes to improve quality and efficiency.
- Track and report quality metrics, trends, and corrective actions.
Education & Experience
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- 3-5 years of manufacturing, warehouse, industrial, or related experience.
Competencies – Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Advanced knowledge of quality systems, including SPC, process capability (Cp/Cpk), and structured problem-solving methodologies.
- Ability to lead root cause analysis using tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams to resolve complex defects.
- Skill in analyzing large data sets and identifying trends that impact process performance and product quality.
- Knowledge of advanced manufacturing systems, including interaction with PLC/HMI interfaces for diagnostics.
- Skill in developing, standardizing, and improving inspection processes and quality documentation.
- Skill in training and mentoring technicians to improve team capability and consistency.
- Ability to operate independently with strong judgment when making technical decisions that impact quality and uptime.
