About the role
This role is a high-impact position at Motorola Solutions' Salt Lake City Electronics Manufacturing Facility. The Manufacturing Quality Manager will lead site engineering and quality operations, architecting production lines and performing deep-dive diagnostics on radio hardware.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design, build-out, and optimization of electronics manufacturing production lines.
- Troubleshoot line flow and mechanical bottlenecks without constant reliance on HQ support.
- Act as the subject matter expert for radio hardware, diagnosing complex technical issues and mentoring QA technicians.
- Maintain a robust, proactive connection to HQ, ensuring site operations remain perfectly synced with corporate engineering expectations.
- Plan and coordinate daily, weekly, and yearly activities for the Quality department.
- Support warehouse, shipping, and production operations to hit monthly targets.
- Drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and cost.
- Ensure rigorous adherence to quality and regulatory guidelines, including ISO requirements and internal corporate protocols.
- Identify and implement long-term continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and manage the departmental budget while establishing a leadership presence within the corporation.
- Recruit, interview, hire, and train a world-class technical staff.
- Focus on mentoring employees to handle advanced diagnostic tasks independently.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and optimizing production lines in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Electronics troubleshooting experience, down to the component level.
- Experience in fine pitch hand soldering.
- Experience using lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
- Strong background in continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of maintaining remote-to-headquarters alignment.
- Proven capabilities in leading a multi-disciplined team to meet objectives under tight deadlines.
- Ability to travel extensively to Los Angeles for training during the initial months of the role.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of manufacturing and/or electronic experience.
- Proven experience in fine pitch hand soldering.
- Experience using lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, signal generators, and spectrum analyzers.
- Strong background in continuous improvement (Lean/Six Sigma) in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Excellent communication skills with a track record of maintaining remote-to-headquarters alignment.
- Proven capabilities in leading a multi-disciplined team to meet objectives under tight deadlines.
- Ability to travel extensively to Los Angeles for training during the initial months of the role.
