About the role

We are seeking a Quality Control Lab Technician for our Hampton, Georgia facility. This role involves inspection, testing, and quality assurance of finished products and raw materials to ensure compliance with Atlas and UL specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and test finished products and raw materials to meet Atlas and UL specifications.
  • Communicate out-of-specification results to the Manager and Production Supervisor.
  • Perform line audits to assess finished and in-process quality, including temperatures, speed, and pressures.
  • Assist in training production employees and QC/Lead/Relief staff on quality control duties.
  • Input and verify data in Bizware, Google Sheets, Excel, and PeopleSoft for daily and monthly QC reports.
  • Participate in competitive and sister audits as time allows.
  • Communicate quality issues to supervision and production employees during manufacturing.
  • Contain and tag suspect materials, reporting defects and quantities to the QC Manager and Roofing Line Superintendent.
  • Conduct warehouse audits to assess finished goods quality.
  • Maintain lab equipment, scales, and manufacturing floor testing tools; clean testing materials and keep the lab organized.
  • Maintain color standards, operator paperwork, drop cups, and the color display board for all products.
  • Perform testing for all Scotchgard products and prepare samples for shipment to MDI.
  • Set up and prepare wastewater samples for monthly shipment (day shift).
  • Assist in designing and implementing new products and participate in project teams to improve quality, process, or performance.
  • Troubleshoot quality or process-related issues with the Supervisor.
  • Communicate pertinent quality or production information to lab employees and management.
  • Supervise production employees in the absence of a Production Supervisor.
  • Transport injured employees to the emergency room if required.

Requirements

  • High school education or equivalent; some college or an associate's degree preferred.
  • Must pass a basic skills assessment in Microsoft Excel.
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in a manufacturing facility or similar environment.

Skills

  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, PeopleSoft, Bizware, and other Quality Assurance programs.
  • Strong mathematical skills, with an emphasis on statistical processes.
  • Effective communication skills for interacting with production teams.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes.
