About LPSD

The Large Power Systems Division (LPSD) is part of Caterpillar’s Power & Energy segment. Through this global organization, Caterpillar designs and manufactures large (greater than 18 liters) diesel and natural gas engines, powertrains and key engine systems. LPSD products and solutions support customers across power generation, industrial, marine, oil & gas, rail, services and Cat® machine applications worldwide. LPSD teams work across regions and functions to deliver safe, reliable and compliant solutions that help solve our customers’ toughest challenges.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Provide technical expertise and guidance in major manufacturing projects, working with internal/external suppliers to support/improve manufacturing productivity and cost effectiveness.
  • Evaluate major systems and coordinate those systems with the total plant.
  • Direct suppliers to analyze their current or proposed product/process designs to determine feasibility of using existing designs or modifying the designs to improve process and/or product.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to manufacturing engineers and operators to develop high-quality products and processes.

Skills

  • Capacity Planning & Management - MFG: Knowledge of tools, approaches, and practices for determining production demand and managing resources. Documents major considerations of product promotions, analyzes their effect on production, and provides management reports on capacity requirements. Uses tools to interpret forecasts and develop short-term capacity requirements.
  • Computer-Aided Design & Engineering: Extensive knowledge of specialized graphics programs to produce, analyze, simulate, and test product design drafts. Coaches others on projections, presents complex products graphically, and consults on design methodologies.
  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of decision-making processes and tools. Evaluates past decisions, assesses alternatives, and advises others on analyzing data and synthesizing relevant information for informed decision-making.
  • Engineering - MFG: Knowledge of engineering processes in a manufacturing environment. Assists in problem resolution, drafting specifications, and performing basic installation, maintenance, and repairs. Follows engineering standards and reports issues to senior staff.
  • Project Management: Extensive knowledge of project management strategies. Plans, estimates, staffs, and monitors significant projects. Identifies risks, creates contingency plans, and maintains open communication among stakeholders.
  • Robotics/Computer Controlled Machinery: Knowledge of robotics and automation technologies. Helps develop long-range automation plans, researches robotic alternatives, and conducts cost-benefit analyses. Promotes robotics implementation and training.
  • Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of troubleshooting hardware, software, and applications. Analyzes and resolves technical problems, works with diagnostic tools, and records problem-solving processes.

Pay

Summary pay range: $128,470.00 - $192,710.00. Compensation and benefits may vary depending on job level, market location, knowledge, skills, individual performance, and experience.

Schedule

This position requires working onsite five days a week. Relocation is available for this position.
